Hair is a sensitive part of our body; it is very prone to be adversely affected by many external factors we encounter daily, such as sun exposure, wind, hairdryers and straighteners, traction caused by tight buns or tails… Not only the external factors but hair is also very much affected by the changes in the body like hormonal imbalances, vitamin deficiencies, or immune system disorders.

It is impossible to avoid all the factors making the hair damaged and weak, but we can minimize the harm and support the hair with a good haircare routine.

Many haircare products are available, most of which benefit from natural oils to support hair since many natural oils are known to be remedies for many diseases related to skin and hair. When appropriately used, some types of natural oils can reduce the damage to the hair; they can preserve the hair against external factors and make it look much healthier.

Here are some of the best natural oils for your haircare routine.

Argan Oil

Argan oil is a product of the argan tree, which commonly grows in Morocco. It is one of the most popular oils for hair because of its positive effects and, therefore, also known as “liquid gold” by many. It is rich in vitamin E, antioxidants, and fatty acids; it nourishes the hair, makes it softer and shinier, and protects it against breakage and external damage.

Argan oil is commonly used in haircare products due to its beneficial features; it can be used in shampoos, conditioners, and hair masks, or by mixing with other nourishing natural oils to improve hair and scalp health. When used in a hair styling product, it prevents hair from the damage of high heat of a hair dryer or hair straightener.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is used for cooking, cleaning, skincare, or make-up removal; it is also very beneficial when used on damaged hair.

Coconut oil protects hair against protein loss caused by bleaching, dying, or exposure of hair to other chemicals. It is easily absorbed by hair, which makes it even more effective.

Tea-tree Oil

Also known as melaleuca oil, tea tree oil treats various conditions affecting the skin, nails, and hair. Besides the fact that it can only be used topical, tea-tree crude must be diluted before use.

Tea-tree oil is successful in removing chemicals from the hair and skin. It can treat dandruff, improve the scalp’s health and strengthen the hair.

Jojoba Oil

The use of Jojoba oil in cosmetic products dates back to 1970. Jojoba oil is very good at treating dryness of the hair and scalp; it is rich in vitamins C, B, and E. It moisturizes the hair, makes it softer and shinier, and prevents breakage and split ends. It can be added to shampoos and conditioners or applied directly.

Natural oils are very much preferred for their easy application and access. They are influential in protecting the hair and scalp and improving the hair’s health, but they do not help restore the fallen hair. Therefore, in more severe conditions like hair loss, instead of natural oils, more advanced treatments should be opted for, like hair transplant.
